Day 1) Depart US for Dakar, Senegal
Day 2)
Arrive Dakar, Senegal: Meet and greet with transfer to Le Meridien
President Hotel (5 Star). Orientation and buffet lunch around pool of hotel
with African Ballet. Evening cultural tour to Pink Lake; enjoy 4 x 4 drive
along the Sand dunes and Barbeque dinner at the Senegalese restaurant viewing
the lake with folkloric entertainment. Overnight Le Meridien President Hotel,
Dakar.
Day 3)
Full day city tour of Dakar. Visit all the points of interest. Lunch
with entertainment followed by a lecture about Cheikh Anta Diop with your
Senegalese host. *Optional Dakar by night: Dinner & nightclub. Overnight Le
Meridien President Hotel, Dakar.
Day 4)
Pilgrimage to Goree Island. Visit the slave house and hear the lecture
of the curator about the slave trade. Lunch at a Senegalese restaurant and
time for shopping and viewing other sites of Goree Island. Evening Farewell
dinner with naming ceremony and party with a Senegalese band. Overnight Le
Meridien President Hotel, Dakar.
Day 5)
Depart for airport and flight to Accra, Ghana. Meet and greet upon
arrival in Ghana and transfer to Lapalm Royal Beach Hotel(5 Star), Accra.
Day 6)
Depart for Cape Coast and Elmina traveling through ancient, historical
marketing towns and fishing villages while enroute. Visit Elmina Castle and
tour the 15th Century Slave Dungeons inside the Castle. View a brief film and
lecture on the history of the slave trade in Ghana. Overnight at the Coconut
Grove Beach Hotel in Cape Coast.
Day 7)
Depart for the historical and cultural city of Kumasi and the Ashanti
Region. Tour the city of Kumasi and visit the museum, Manhiyaa Palace and
cultural center. View beautiful works of art in sculpture, gold, jewelry and
ornaments. See photographs and artifacts of Ashanti Royalty. Overnight at
Royal Basim Hotel in Kumasi.
Day 8)
Tour the craft villages of Ahwiaa, Ntonso and Bonwire. Return to Accra
in the afternoon. Farewell dinner and cultural performance. Overnight at the
Lapalm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra.
Day 9)
Day at leisure. Late Afternoon transfer to the airport for your flight
to US.
Day 10)
Arrive US late morning
