Luxor is the world's greatest open-air
museum, filled of an ancient civilization with the awe-inspiring monuments of ancient civilization.
Testaments to a desire for immortality, built for eternity in sandstone and granite,
the temples, tombs and palaces still stand, surrounded by souks and luxury hotels.
Today you can walk through history; past statues with the heads of gods and animals,
beneath pillars carved with lotus buds and papyrus. Ride in a horse drawn
caleche, sail in a felucca, take a sunset cruise or see the city from a hot
air balloon. On the East Bank visit the most esteemed of places; the Karnak
Temples are built on a massive scale. The temple complex covers a
hundred acres; its history spans thirteen centuries. On the West Bank
visit Queen Hatshepsut's Temple, the only woman to rule over Egypt as Pharaoh.
The must do in Luxor is the Valley of the Kings. The most famous tomb in
the Valley of the Kings is King Tut-Ankh-Amun's Tomb. You cannot visit
the Valley of the Kings without visiting the Valley of the Queens.
The most renowned tomb at the Valley of the Queens is Nefertari's Tomb.
It boasts vivid murals and inscriptions. |
